Picking Up The Pieces helps families transitioning from homelessness and crisis move beyond survival by transforming empty or under-resourced housing into safe, functional, and dignified homes. Through donated furniture, household essentials, volunteer service, and intentional interior design, we help families establish stability, reduce financial strain, and create spaces where children and adults can rest, rebuild, and begin again.
For many families exiting homelessness, receiving housing does not mean the home is ready to live in. Families often move into empty spaces without beds, furniture, kitchen items, bathroom essentials, or the basic household goods needed to create routine and stability.
Picking Up The Pieces bridges the gap between housing and home. We collect quality donated furniture and household items, coordinate volunteer-supported home transformations, and design each space to support dignity, safety, comfort, and long-term housing stability.
We serve individuals and families transitioning from homelessness, domestic violence, crisis, or housing instability into permanent or more stable housing. Many are referred through trusted community partners and are rebuilding with limited resources.
Our model combines practical household support with trauma-informed, dignity-centered design. By reducing the cost of furnishing a home and creating spaces that support rest, routine, and belonging, we help families strengthen their foundation for long-term stability.
